apple tart for Valentine\u2019s.<br \/>\nYeah, you can do this for your sweetheart on the Cooking Everything Outdoors show.<br \/>\nToday I\u2019m going to show you how to make a really simple apple tart.<br \/>\nLooks really cool.<br \/>\nBut this is just the basic recipe and you could expound upon this all that you want.<br \/>\nIt\u2019ll be very simple to add different ingredients to this and play with it however you would like.<br \/>\nNow, before we get started I want to talk to you about the pie pan that we\u2019re going to be using.<br \/>\nAnd this is a cast iron pie pan.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s from Camp Chef.<br \/>\nAnd I believe it\u2019s referred to as a 9 inch pie pan.<br \/>\nAnd to use this it\u2019s going to be super simple.<br \/>\nMakes beautiful crust but we need to make sure we get a little bit of grease on this.<br \/>\nI\u2019m using the Crisco brand.<br \/>\nYou could use lard, oil but I like the Crisco.<br \/>\nSo let\u2019s go over our very basic simple ingredients that we\u2019re going to need for our double crusted apple tart.<br \/>\nSo we\u2019ll need 2 apples which we will core peel and sliced thinly.<br \/>\n2 cheater pie crusts.<br \/>\nYou\u2019ll need a 1\/2 cup of brown sugar.<br \/>\n1\/2 a cup of white sugar.<br \/>\n1 tablespoon of cold butter and\u2026 I\u2019ve just cubed this up in small pieces.<br \/>\n1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour.<br \/>\n1\/2 a tablespoon of cinnamon.<br \/>\nAnd 1\/2 a teaspoon of lemon juice.<br \/>\nSo how would you expand upon this recipe?<br \/>\nPretty simple, you could add some cloves.<br \/>\nYou could add some pumpkin spice.<br \/>\nYou could add up some nutmeg to it.<br \/>\nTo just change the flavor profile a little bit more you could add some lemon zest, some red hot, some caramel.<br \/>\nAll these things will just build upon the flavor profile that you\u2019re creating with this very basic recipe.<br \/>\nSo let\u2019s put together our basic, our brown sugar cinnamon mix.<br \/>\nOur regular sugar.<br \/>\nOur flour.<br \/>\nAnd our cinnamon.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re going to mix that up really good.<br \/>\nNow that we have this mixed up, this is where you would add, if you wanted to add some extra flavors, we\u2019re going to use half of this with our pie crust and half of this is going with our apple slices.<br \/>\nOkay, so let\u2019s get our pie crust out and unroll this gently.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s best if it\u2019s not ice cold but yet still cold.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s going to roll out a lot easier.<br \/>\nLay that into our grease pie pan making sure it\u2019s up against the sides evenly.<br \/>\nNow, we\u2019re going to take half of our brown sugar mixture.<br \/>\nAnd then I want to sprinkle my butter evenly, just like so.<br \/>\nSo now, we want to take our second curst.<br \/>\nI\u2019m carefully opening that up.<br \/>\nWe want to lay this directly on top of the other one as best you can.<br \/>\nFairly decent there.<br \/>\nNow, you\u2019re going to need to make some cuts in here.<br \/>\nDon\u2019t go through the second crust.<br \/>\nSo just slightly make some vent cuts.<br \/>\nThe reason we\u2019re doing this is we\u2019re going to try to prevent it from rising in the middle.<br \/>\nOkay, so now we need to take our crust here and they\u2019re not perfectly even.<br \/>\nYou could trim them up if you want.<br \/>\nTry to adjust them however to get him as close as possible.<br \/>\nBut, you know, this is going to be folded over.<br \/>\nSo to me it\u2019s not a big, big issue.<br \/>\nBut with this pie crust, we have to bake it partially first, otherwise, we\u2019re going to soggy middle and that doesn\u2019t taste good.<br \/>\nSo what I do is I\u2019ll just take a sheet about the size of the pie and then I want to roll up.<br \/>\nAnd you want to do this for two pieces or else you\u2019re going to have a heck of a time getting them out.<br \/>\nAnd then I\u2019m going to do another one.<br \/>\nLike that.<br \/>\nSo now we\u2019re going to be carefully create our buckle which I just take and put a thing there and roll it over.<br \/>\nOkay, so that looks pretty nice for an Okie.<br \/>\nSo what I have here are my coals I\u2019ve gotten ready.<br \/>\nAnd I have them in the baskets for indirect cooking.<br \/>\nAnd then we\u2019d take our pie crust and we\u2019re going to put that right in the center there.<br \/>\nAnd this isn\u2019t going to cook for more than maybe 5 to 8 minutes.<br \/>\nSo keep an eye on it.<br \/>\nPut the lid on it and stay close.<br \/>\nSo while our pie crust is cooking we\u2019re going to make our apple filling.<br \/>\nOkay, so we\u2019ve probably all done this a million times, we just want to give this a quick peel.<br \/>\nAnd get some nice, thin, 8 inch slices.<br \/>\nOkay, so this is coming along.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s baking up just like we want it.<br \/>\nSo now we have our apple slices.<br \/>\nI want to take our lemon juice and drizzle it all over there.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s just going to help prevent it from browning.<br \/>\nNow, we\u2019re going to take the rest of our filling and we\u2019re going mix it in there.<br \/>\nOnce you got everything mixed up, it is ready for the pie crust.<br \/>\nAnd as soon as that\u2019s done, we\u2019ll put this in there.<br \/>\nLet\u2019s get this off.<br \/>\nAnd we\u2019re going to let this set for a few minutes.<br \/>\nSo we\u2019ve cool down just a little bit and we want to get our foil out and start filling the pie up.<br \/>\nWe got to get gooey on this.<br \/>\nI can\u2019t do it any other way.<br \/>\nJust start stuffing your apple slices under that crust.<br \/>\nAnd we\u2019re going to build layers up.<br \/>\nAnd once you have your first layer down, you\u2019re going to start another layer.<br \/>\nBut I think you\u2019re starting to get the idea what we\u2019re looking for.<br \/>\nSo you can see how pretty this is.<br \/>\nAnd this is going to bake probably 20-35 minutes or so, 25-35 minutes, but you need to keep an eye on the crust to make sure that doesn\u2019t burn.<br \/>\nIf it starts to burn, then just take some of your foil and make yourself a crust shield like that.<br \/>\nOkay, back onto the grill, about 350 degrees, roughly 25-35 minutes.<br \/>\nYou\u2019re going to have to keep an eye on this one.<br \/>\nOkay, so we\u2019ve been cooking this for 35 minutes and it is bubbling in the center.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s browned beautifully around the outside.<br \/>\nAnd I think that is a thing of beauty.<br \/>\nOkay,
