preheated skillet, add olive oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Saute onion for about a minute.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add turkey, stir until cooked through.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Transfer to a bowl, add marinara sauce and tomatoes, mix well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Preheat the cedar plank over the grill, keeping the cooking side down.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Coat the tray with cooking spray.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Spread a layer of the turkey mixture, arrange mushroom slices, cover with a layer of cheese and then a layer of lasagna noodles.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Repeat layering, keeping the top most layer to be cheese.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Grill over indirect heat for about 40 minutes.<\/li>\n<li Transcript:<\/strong><br \/>\nPresenter:<br \/>\nHey, everyone, this is Gary House with Cooking Everything Outdoors show.<br \/>\nAnd today we\u2019re back at it with the Cedar plank trays, but this time I\u2019m making lasagna on the grill on the Cooking Everything Outdoors show.<br \/>\nGary House with the outdoor cook Cooking Everything Outdoors show, I hope you try this at home.<br \/>\nLet\u2019s go over our ingredients for our lasagna.<br \/>\nNow I\u2019m going to tell you right upfront this is not a traditional lasagna recipe and I\u2019m making it with turkey because that\u2019s the only way I\u2019m going to get my wife to eat it.<br \/>\nSo here we go.<br \/>\nSo first off, I have about pound of Italian seasoned ground turkey.<br \/>\n2 cups of sliced crimini mushrooms.<br \/>\nGot 1 cup of red onions, just chopped up.<br \/>\nGot about 3\/4 a cup of some Italian seasoned tomatoes.<br \/>\n1 jar of marinara sauce, get the good stuff.<br \/>\nAbout 3 cups of mozzarella and parmesan cheese, there\u2019s about 2 cups of mozzarella cheese in there and about a 1 cup of fancy parmesan.<br \/>\nGoing really easy today, I\u2019m using the oven-ready lasagna pasta and this is the stuff that you don\u2019t have to pre-boil.<br \/>\nI mean, this is great if you\u2019re camping which this whole recipe is absolutely perfect for.<br \/>\nSome good olive oil.<br \/>\nSome spray, olive cooking spray.<br \/>\nA cedar tray plank and this is about 15 inches and about 2 inches deep, it could probably be 4 inches deep.<br \/>\nBut this is where we\u2019re cooking this bad boy in.<br \/>\nAnd presoaked it for about an hour.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s going to be a long cooking there and I just want to help protect it as much as possible.<br \/>\nGas grill, you can use charcoal grill, work just as well, actually give you a little additional flavor. I\u2019ve got a, I think, probably 12 inch cast iron skillet here that we\u2019re going to be cooking our turkey in first.<br \/>\nOur cast iron skillet has been preheating, grills up about 425 degrees right now, so it\u2019s going to be time to start cooking here.<br \/>\nI\u2019m going to add just a wee bit of olive oil.<br \/>\nI\u2019m going to get my onion started.<br \/>\nOnions entirely optional, just happens to be one of the things I like in my lasagna.<br \/>\nSo the onions are just about where I want them.<br \/>\nI\u2019m going to add my Italian turkey and get breaking that up.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re going to cook this all the way through.<br \/>\nSo our ground Italian turkey is done.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s cooked all the way through.<br \/>\nBrowning up a little bit, which is okay.<br \/>\nNow it\u2019s time to take this off the heat.<br \/>\nNow, remember, the skillet is really hot.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s been cooking at probably about 400 degrees.<br \/>\nWe got a skillet handle, pot protector, if you will, and then an extra kitchen cloth to wrap around there because it\u2019s screaming hot and it\u2019s really heavy.<br \/>\nSo now we\u2019re just going to put this in a bowl.<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019m going to grease from the turkey which is very, very little.<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019m going to put that in the pan or I\u2019m actually leave that as I cook in there, it\u2019ll add some moisture to it.<br \/>\nNow that we have\u2026this is when we are going to add our marinara sauce to it.<br \/>\nAnd it\u2019ll take about a whole jar.<br \/>\nWe\u2019ll get that mixed in really good.<br \/>\nAnd then I\u2019m going to add my tomatoes which I\u2019ve just drained but there are still a bit of juice in there.<br \/>\nAnd that is going to be the base for our lasagna.<br \/>\nSo now that our lasagna sauce mixture is ready to go I want to preheat my cedar plank tray.<br \/>\nAnd this is just to remove any impurities or bacteria that might have built up which is not common on cedar but it\u2019s a good practice to have it.<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019m just going to turn this cooking side down on my grill.<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019m going to close it up.<br \/>\nListen very carefully.<br \/>\nI always keep squirt bottle and a fire extinguisher handy whenever I\u2019m cooking anything with cedar planks.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s going to start popping and crackling here in a few minutes.<br \/>\nAnd also I want you to when you do this keep in mind that that cedar plank trays got lot of cracks in and stuff and if you want to ruin your tablecloth and you can tell mine is with an antique, so lay out another towel because some of this is going to drip through and it\u2019s going to get kind of messy.<br \/>\nAnd as soon as that\u2019s ready to go we\u2019ve build the lasagna.<br \/>\nOnce you hear your cedar plank trays start to pop and\u2026you just heard it\u2026and start to smell, that\u2019s when you know it\u2019s probably ready to pull off.<br \/>\nGet yourself a good heavy pair of barbecue mittens and get your tray off of there.<br \/>\nAnd you can see it\u2019s starting to brown up, but I know that it\u2019s hot enough to where it\u2019s done its job.<br \/>\nNow there it goes.<br \/>\nI\u2019m going to have my lasagna cedar plank tray cooking on indirect heat.<br \/>\nThis particular barbecue has its burners going in this direction.<br \/>\nSo I\u2019m going to turn the middle one off and just close this back up to warm it back up.<br \/>\nI\u2019m looking for about 375, is basically where I\u2019m going to cook this at.<br \/>\nSo let\u2019s start filling our tray up.<br \/>\nFirst thing I want to do is give it a good coat on the inside just to help prevent any sticking.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s not going to detract from any flavor at all.<br \/>\nAnd to make this it\u2019s really as simple as just layering everything in there just a small first layer.<br \/>\n3 or 4 scoops in there probably to get it going.<br \/>\nI really am going to pack mine as much as possible.<br \/>\nIn fact if I can make all this fit in this one tray I\u2019m going to be a happy camper.<br \/>\nI think there\u2019s enough for two.<br \/>\nOnce you\u2019ve got it spread out like that.<br \/>\nThen if you want mushrooms in yours layer your mushrooms in there.<br \/>\nThrow some on the ground for the dog.<br \/>\nMay be something like that.<br \/>\nGet some cheese on there.<br \/>\nHow much is entirely up to you.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve got a couple of little handfuls on there.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re going to want to reserve at least a quarter of this cheese for the top.<br \/>\nAnd then we\u2019ll take our fancy oven ready to go lasagna noodles out of the box.<br \/>\nAnd we\u2019re just going to layer that and try to get as flat as possible.<br \/>\nI stagger my noodles.<br \/>\nIn this case it\u2019s going to take about 3 noodles there.<br \/>\nOkay, once we\u2019ve got that let\u2019s get another layer going.<br \/>\nHi Jove.<br \/>\nI think I\u2019m going to be able to use all of this.<br \/>\nGo away, V.<br \/>\nOkay, another layer of mushrooms.<br \/>\nPack as many in there as you like.<br \/>\nLittle bit more cheese, in the second layer I go a little heavier.<br \/>\nOkay, our tray is getting a little full now.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s perfect.<br \/>\nPacking it down, work it in place.<br \/>\nLet\u2019s get another layer of noodles in there.<br \/>\nThis baby is going to be burst into the gills.<br \/>\nExcellent!<br \/>\nLooks like I\u2019m going to get all of it on there.<br \/>\nOkay.<br \/>\nNow mushrooms are entirely optional in this layer.<br \/>\nIf you do want to add more mushrooms on there, I\u2019m not going to, but if you do I\u2019d recommend putting the mushrooms down first and putting the sauce over it.<br \/>\nOh, fantastic.<br \/>\nIt all fit.<br \/>\nFor a second there I thought I was going to have a lot left over.<br \/>\nBut in this case being wrong is a good thing.<br \/>\nOkay.<br \/>\nNice 15 inch tray full lasagna.<br \/>\nYou could probably tweak another layer on top of this.<br \/>\nYou can get some more mushrooms on there, if you want.<br \/>\nThe problem with adding some mushrooms on the top like this, and will do it, is that they\u2019re more than likely to dry up like a little hockey pucks as you cook it but we can drizzle little olive oil on that to help.<br \/>\nAnd it\u2019ll actually impart some yummy little flavor to that.<br \/>\nSo this is pretty much it where we want to go.<br \/>\nNow what I want to do is I want to put this in the grill, indirect heat, for 50 minutes.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s getting a little hot, so I got to turn that down.<br \/>\nWatch your temperature.<br \/>\nAnd this is going bake for let\u2019s say to say 40 to 50 minutes.<br \/>\nThat way those noodles will absorb the moisture in there and that\u2019ll get really soft and everything will cook and blend there.<br \/>\nIn the last 10 minutes we\u2019re piling on the cheese.<br \/>\nOkay, set your lasagna in the grill, indirect heat.<br \/>\nOur burners are on either side.<br \/>\nNow as this cooks don\u2019t really\u2026this is not a good technique to go wandering off and watching TV while it\u2019s cooking or going out fishing while you\u2019re camping because this tray can catch on fire more likely with charcoal than it is with gas.<br \/>\nSo keep your fire extinguisher and water close by.<br \/>\nKeep an eye on this.<br \/>\nAnd what we\u2019re going to be looking for is, if this starts to dry out too much on this I\u2019m going to go and I\u2019m going to slap some foil on it to keep that moisture within itself.<br \/>\nBut I\u2019m not too worried about it right now.<br \/>\nWe\u2019ll take a look.<br \/>\nI\u2019ll be back in about 30 minutes.<br \/>\nSo lasagna has been on for about 40 minutes now.<br \/>\nTime slather on some cheese.<br \/>\nLook at that.<br \/>\nDon\u2019t be shy here.<br \/>\nThis is the icing on the cake.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s going to take about 5-10 minutes, will melt that, pull it, let it cool down a bit, serve it.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s almost time to pull the lasagna.<br \/>\nBut before I do that I
